Ioannis, at present you are very active in Moscow. What do the BRICS countries like Brazil or Russia add to our view of competition law?

I think that BRICS, including Brazil and Russia, constitute the next frontier of competition law, meaning that these are important competition law regimes that one needs to take into account and that although it is clear that some form of global governance of competition law should be established, they are currently interesting laboratories for the experimentation of new ideas and concepts in the way competition law is practiced. International convergence and standardization has not yet caught up with them, and this is refreshing.

From a global perspective: What is the role of economic evidence these days? Does economic evidence work in private enforcement and in developing jurisdictions or will that make history as an EU-Commission idiosyncrasy?

Despite the resistance of some courts, economic
